Frostfell

• A plane in the Energy Realms

Frostfell, also known as the Elemental Plane of Ice, and identified with Airion’s Compound Elemental Realm of Cold, is a hypothesized Energy Realm, or perhaps a region of either the Elemental Plane of Air or the Elemental Plane of Water, associated with cold and ice.

The famous Drankorian work On the Nature of Heat, although primarily a text of natural history, provides the best summary of Frostfell: It is a land of bitter cold, with vast ice fields dotted with freezing pools of liquid colder than ice, giving way to glaciers on the edge of an ocean filled with icebergs and endless bitter storms of freezing wind and howling snow.

While Lyrannis of Aquilona did not catalog any powerful genies of ice or cold native to Frostfell, On Elemental Forms does contain an extended discussion of creatures of ice and snow, including snow trolls, frost giants, and massive ice constructs, that are though to dwell in Frostfell. However, Lyrannis argued that as Frostfell has no true native creatures, merely inhabitants who are at home in the cold, it should not be considered a true elemental realm. The truth of this conjuncture remains a subject of much scholarly debate.
