The Plane of Creation

The Plane of Creation is the name given by experimental theologists to the ultimate source of divine power, the place where Soulstuff originates, and the home of the Divine Presence. Most scholars do not believe this is a place a traveler can visit, or at least not visit and survive; indeed, recent theoretical calculations by the theological cosmologist Heloise of Tollen suggests that the Plane of Creation itself may be an infinitely dense agglomeration of Soulstuff, impenetrable to any force except the Divine Presence.

The Plane of Creation plays a meaningful role in the magic of Taelgar, as the ultimate source of all divine magic. The exact metaphysical details are left undetermined, but there is significant brainstorming around several related points:

  • Magic in Taelgar
  • Soulstuff
  • Discord Chat - Multiverse
  • Discord Chat - Divine Power in Taelgar
  • Riving
  • Riving

The basic vibe, whatever the exact details, is that the Plane of Creation is the divine counterpart to the Plane of Magic, the source of all divine magic, and the home – in whatever sense they have of home – of the Divine Presence, and that the Divine Presence is an effectively (or actually) infinite source of divine magic / Soulstuff etc.

Unlike Spiritual Realms, this is not really supposed to be a place one can visit, although of course there is always room for invention and exceptions.

In any case, the Plane of Creation is not a place where souls end up in any kind of afterlife, although perhaps souls “return” to the Plane of Creation in some metaphysical sense when they cease to exist in any kind of conscious, aware form.
