The War of the Cloak

A war fought between the armies of Grash and the orcs of Xurkhaz, aided by Dunmar Fellowship, over the Cloak of Rainbows.

The war began when Grash marched east from his bases in Kharsan, aiming to defeat the orcs of Xurkhaz and in the process steal the Cloak of Rainbows from Lubash. After an initial strike force led by Kadmos failed to recover the cloak, and Grash’s undead armies were prevented from entering Uzgukhar by the powerful magic of Riswynn, Grash besieged the city. The siege was broken, and Grash killed, by the Dunmar Fellowship.

Events in the War

  • Nov 27, 1748 DR: Grash departs Kharsan with an army of orcs and undead
  • Dec 05, 1748 DR: Grash arrives on the outskirts of Xurkhaz
  • Dec 06, 1748 DR: Khumarz is attacked after nightfall by Grash’s army. The orc garrison at Khumarz manages to repel Grash’s forces, keeping them from crossing the Kulthul
  • Dec 08, 1748 DR: A small company of elite adventurers attacks Uzgukhar in the early morning hours, hoping to acquire the Cloak of Rainbows and vanish. They are defeated and killed or captured by Dunmar Fellowship.
  • Dec 11, 1748 DR: Battle of the Kulthul. The orc army is overrun at Khumarz, and Grash’s forces cross the Kulthul into Xurkhaz. Grash’s army now consists entirely of undead.
  • Dec 15, 1748 DR: Grash’s army reaches Uzgukhar
  • Dec 16, 1748 DR: Grash’s armies attempt to overrun Uzgukhar, and fail, thanks to the protection of Riswynn and the Bahrazel.
  • Dec 17, 1748 DR: The Siege of Uzgukhar begins
  • Dec 22, 1748 DR: Grash brings forward catapults and begins bombarding Uzgukhar
  • Dec 26, 1748 DR: Riswynn and orc forces, aided by a powerful divine ally summoned by Riswynn, conduct a sortie to destroy catapults.
  • Dec 30, 1748 DR: Second sortie ends bombardment of Uzgukhar
  • Dec 31, 1748 DR: Grash begins construction of Bonecrusher, a massive trebuchet
  • Jan 09, 1749 DR: Forbiddance becomes permanent on the entire city
  • Jan 19, 1749 DR: Bonecrusher is ready, and is slowly brought forward to pummel the city
  • Jan 20, 1749 DR: Bombardment of Uzgukhar begins at dawn. The Battle for Uzgukhar. Grash is defeated, and the war ends.
